  • 2 pieces ripe bananas
  • ½ cup melted butter (115 g)
  • 1 cup sugar (200 g)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • cup cocoa powder (35 g)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour (125 g)
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon baking powder
  • ½ cup chocolate chips (optional)

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x9 inch baking pan.
  • Mash the ripe bananas until smooth in a mixing bowl.
  • Stir in the melted butter into the mashed bananas.
  • Add the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
  • In another bowl, whisk together cocoa powder, flour, salt, and baking powder.
  • Gradually mix the dry ingredients into the banana mixture.
  • If desired, fold in chocolate chips.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan and smooth the top.
  • Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  • Let cool before slicing into brownies.

Notes

These brownies are great served warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Store in an airtight container for up to 2 days at room temperature, or refrigerate for up to 5 days.
