  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can substitute with gluten-free flour blend.
  • 1 cup milk Substitute with almond milk for dairy-free option.
  • 3 large eggs
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons butter (melted) Can use dairy-free butter as a substitute.

Preparation

  • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  • Grease a muffin tin well to prevent the popovers from sticking.
  • In a mixing bowl, whisk together the flour and salt until combined.
  • In another bowl, beat the eggs until fluffy. Then add the milk and melted butter, mixing until smooth.
  • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients. Stir gently until just combined.
  • Pour the batter into the prepared muffin tin, filling each cup about halfway.
  • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until they are puffed up and golden brown.
  • Once done, remove the popovers from the oven and let them cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Popovers are best served warm and can be enjoyed plain or filled with butter, jam, or savory fillings. Store in an airtight container for up to a day and reheat in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 5-10 minutes.
